My mum and dad's combined cost of car insurance on their Range rover sport HSE TDV6 (2.7litre) is around 1200. My dad rang up his insurance broker to get a quote on putting me as a named driver, and we got a quote of a total of about 6,000 per year. I know this is a lot of money, however the insurance company says this is because the car is in bracket 19. I was led to believe by my Land Rover dealer that the TDV6 model was in group 14/15, where it was the Supercharged 4.4litre model which was in group 18/19. A couple of months ago I got pulled over doing a 37 in a 25. The cop was nie and let me go with a WRITTEN warning. Weeks later someone totaled my car while it was parked. I recently got a new car and the 1st payment was only $120 something and that was ear our estimated quote, but for the past 2 payments the price has been over $200 dollars and my mother is convinced that my insurance company saw the WRITTEN warning and thats why my rates went up. Is it true that this thing can happen? From my research and understanding insurance companies don't hardly ever do this and thats why is was a warning. The major reason I am concerned is I am interested in buying a Dodge SRT-4 sometime and insurance is very high especially for someone under 21 and 25, and I probably wouldn't be able to afford the insurance payment because they would be as high enough without the warning. We plan on calling EMC insurance after they open either today or tomorrow.

Car Insurance Renewal Why Did It Make That Much Of A Difference?

My partner had his renewal quote through and we've been shopping around and haven't even come close to getting it cheaper elsewhere so he decided to ring them thinking by taking me off the policy it would make it cheaper still since I've only had my license just over a year and would think still be considered a high risk but it in fact increased the price by about 60 my partner got a speeding fine last year which gained him 3 points too so we knew that would have an impact on the price this time but the only explanation I can think of was that me being female and at 31 i'm not what is classed as a young driver either and a named driver on his policy helps to keep the cost down but aren't the insurance companies doing away with that criteria as it was discriminating? a banana (yes dont ask) being flung into the grill of the car, being sucked into the engine and other parts and causing damages worth about 15-17 grand? a friend threw a banana at a guys car and it did as described and im praying that the guy's insurance would cover it so that he gets off with a manageable fine. if he cant pay the guy, hell end up doing time which i really dont want to see him do. :( pleae HELP this is a serious question unfortunately :(

I'm 18. I currently drive my parents extra car, and I am on their insurance. Right now they pay for all the insurance. Ok, so here's my question. I want to buy a car sometime later this year. I know it will be kind of a lot because of age (I'm female btw) and I just am confused about how I find insurance. Do you have to buy the car and then find insurance or should I be looking for insurance BEFORE I even buy the car ( I know what car I'm going to buy, it's just a matter of saving enough money and finding one available) Anyways, do I find an insurance company willing to cover me or do I put it in my parents name under their insurance? My car insurance is up for renewal soon, I had 1 year no claims before the current policy (but no certificate to prove it) and havent claimed during it. When I renew I like to look for the best price which may mean not sticking with my current insurer. If I change insurer and they ask to see proof of my no claims how can I prove I have 2 years? Will my current insurer issue me with a certificate saying 2 years (1 year with them added to the 1 year beforehand) or just 1 year? The other issue is that surely this certificate will arrive AFTER I want to begin my new policy?? Any advice would be much appreciated

The cheapest quote I had found (through Geico I believe) is $585/month for full coverage.. that's over $7000 a year... I have two tickets on my record. That quote was done without listing any tickets at all. I work 65 hours a week, so the only place I really drive is to my jobs and back. Unfortunately, I need a car in a hurry.. which means I'm going to finance one, which means full coverage is required.
